there goes my good mood.

Tue Jun 24, 2008, 11:51 AM
well, I was in a really good mood, I'm going to a baseball game tonight, which I love to do. then I opened deviant art and found 3 very offensive and rude comments on one of my deviations [link]
first one, and the most rude, by ~lolwut696
"Nice tits whore. lol."

these are not as rude, but still reported as spam:
by: ~RandomSignupForFr
"If it wasn't to show you off nude, why didn't you use a mannequin or wear undies?"

and by: ~ProfessorMarkus
"I don't understand why you modeled nude, then got angry when people noticed it.
Underwear and a bra would've solved that, as tits are distracting people from your work."

I don't want to have to explain myself, but I will. I modeled them nude because wearing something underneath would be distracting. only insensitive assholes get distracted by the "tits" and don't notice the subject of the picture. also, wearing something underneath wold have changed the way they fit. if you notice, on the other picture, there is an amazing comment that I love, given by a fellow mailler ~Gilleban

":This is, hands down, an amazing outfit. So few maillers out there are really trying to make unique, interesting exotic outfits. While the weave itself is very simple...just euro 4-1?...you've made the top drape in such a way that looks more visually interesting than "the most basic of all maille weaves." I also have to applaud how everything manages to hit just the right places...the bands frame your breasts perfectly (in an artistic sense as well as "visually erotic") and form the X at just the right place between your bust and throat. The collar the bands form is even just right...low enough that I imagine it's fairly comfortable to wear but still draws the viewer's eye downwards (as is the general "plan" with outfits such as this). Truly a piece that holds a viewer's attention in its own right as well as enhancing the appearance of the wearer.

What I find most interesting here is that this outfit is not only modeled by (and might I say, in a sense of friendly but harmless flirtation, admirably so) but DESIGNED and MADE by the woman wearing it...a quick float around the 'Net will show that the vast majority of such pieces are generally (but not always) the creations of male artisans...even when I'm accepting commissions from women for outfits of their own they generally leave the design easthetics up to me ("You're the artist...you know what looks good."). While not inherently a bad thing, most of the time it's because either we guys are thinking of costumes to help women feel beautiful and powerful (I wish they knew they already ARE), or we're being commissioned by some dude who wants something "sexay" for his girlfriend, which is why so many outfits look like the usual "warrior princess" or "slave girl" costumes, if they aren't simply the ubiquitous "chainmail bikini" (which, if you check out websites, so many look exactly alike). I'd love to hear Muirgheal's story behind it, but this outfit, at least to me, appears to represent a woman's own efforts to create something she herself would feel beautiful and powerful wearing.

The really impressive part is that Muirgheal's costume is so expertly designed...again so many are built to reflect male fantasies and notions of beauty where in this case she's found the perfect balance of hand-crafted metal and her own natural appeal; while covering very little (even the skirt is sheer enough to be seen through) the costume doesn't seem to advertise her nudity as much as "enhance" the appearance of her body...yes, the costume itself draws the eyes to and perfectly frames her bare breasts, and the skirt is short enough to emphasize her buttocks and barely conceal anything in front, but there's nothing "slutty" about this work of art...more of a sense of awe than cheap thrills.

While many of my words so far will no doubt flatter Miss Muirgheal, my comments aren't just to praise her for her talent and hard work but to admit that the bar has been raised for exotic outfits...male jewelers and maillers should look on this piece as a shining (in this case literally ;) )example of what women are looking for in this type of costume...they want to feel beautiful and powerful, and she's not only hit the nail on the head but right between the eyes...

Guys, we have a challenge ahead of us :D

I notice also it's just that one view that is getting the comments. not the other one, that has the good insightful comments on it.

I am not taking these down, I am proud of them. though I will mark as spam anyone who feels they need to keep making those comments.

stupid thing, I can't change the mood. definetly not "joyful" right now.

Jackasses. These are the same people who, in high school, were going, "Hurr hurr hurr" at all the nude statues in history books. Apparently they haven't grown up yet.

Hey just go back to my comments and know that some people love to share there hate and negitive energy.

They are not worthy to foul your spirit. These pix and many others your BF takes show you in such a beautiful way. You are a lovely model and the mail pix are just stunning. I have featured them even as some of my favorite on DA.

Those comments either come from people who think they'll get away with harassment and infantile viewpoints because they don't use their own names on the Internet. What's more, they're most likely not popular and are bitter and vicious due to a lack of talent, assets, charm, attraction or any other attractive and worthy quality.

Or, you can say it in one phrase: Mind over matter - you don't mind because they don't matter. So try to recapture that joyful mood by realizing that you can keep enjoying doing what you like to do...and they can roll around in their pathetic angst and ugly whining for the rest of their lives.

Or better yet, they can work even harder to get that gas station senior lubeman job they've spent 12 years working hard to get. *grin*

Heh, Gilleban is good that way. But he makes my life very difficult when he says things like 'raising the bar' on chainmaille work. *grin* Now I've got to make even BETTER stuff?! *falls over with a thud*

Gotta agree w/ the others, Muir.

Simple minds have simple thoughts.

Some people just aren't happy unless they're pissing on someone else's parade. Most of them are more like the character of Salieri from "Amadeus" - mediocre talent (at best), wishing for naught but the chance to try to make a true artist feel less about themselves, while they know that they will never rise above the dross of their daily lives.

The rest of us know what a great talent you have, and appreciate your willingness to share that talent with us.
hugs.

people are douchebags.

I have a feeling that those posts were probably either kids or women that are jealous of your looks and body. The only way to show off the full impact of those articles was to do the brave thing and model them – a mannequin won’t show that it fit a real person and underwear would have looked stupid.
I know you were just trying to show off a unique design of unique material, but the fact is you looked sexy as hell in the outfit – isn’t that the very point of these pieces?
Don’t let those idiots spoil your mood.
Frign' morons.

Muir you done us all a favor by modeling those outfits. (Yes being the male I am I do apriciate your physical beauty and form). Much more than that I look at your designs, as well as others with talent above my own for inspiration, ideas, and general appreciation in the art of maille in an exotic form. Thank you!

Small minded people exist in their small little worlds and lash out at those who don't, or wont, fit into their small little view. I have a feeling these small little people have nothing else in their small little lives to do but try to bring others down to their small little level.

I don't pity them, I just look down on them, smile.... and pee.
I would like to add to the above statements.
I am a man and an artist and am appalled at those [expletive]s.
I agree with you and Gilleban and those above. I can't stand to see 'foundation garments' under items they should not be worn under. It ruins the look. I prefer women and looking at them but I don't want to see boxer shorts on David either.
If they can't accept art as art both the model and the piece then they shouldn't be on an art site.
These [expletive]s make mature men (like myself, Gilleban, Phong, and others) look bad and make beautiful women like yourself uncomfortable.
Kudos to you & obscene gestures to the [expletive]s.

There are too many idiots and insensitive bigots on the internet. It's also what happens when people don't grow up, then feel the need to go looking for people to insult because they need the small amount of satisfaction that it gives them.

There should be a way for you to blacklist people from viewing your pictures, since you have to be registered to see adult flagged devs anyway.

Hope some of these comments from all your supporters will cheer you up a bit.
